Did You Know June is Children’s Vision Awareness Month?
With our keiki in school, it’s vital to ensure that they're comfortable in their learning environment.
If your child struggles in school or with reading, it may be due to issues that they are having with their vision.
Young children often find it hard to articulate “blurry vision” or other eye related issues.
This is why we always encourage annual vision checks for your children to help assess their visual acuity and make recommendations to support and protect their vision!
Here are some signs to watch for in your children:
Beyond recognizing these signs, there are other steps you can take to support your child's vision:
Encourage Healthy Habits: Make sure your child has good lighting while reading or doing homework and takes regular breaks from screens to prevent eye strain. Outdoor play, to balance screen time with sunlight, is also beneficial for eye health.
Protect Their Eyes: Equip your child with sunglasses that block 100% of UV rays and ensure they wear protective eyewear during sports and recreational activities.
Nutrition Counts: A balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and omega-3 fatty acids supports overall eye health.
Make sure to establish regular eye care early on for your children, in order to ensure their success in school and in life!
