COVID-19 has required the use of masks over the last several months. If you wear glasses, you may have experienced fogging of your lenses while wearing a mask. This can be very frustrating and difficult to see through the fogging. We have experimented with a few techniques and found a few that work best to reduce the chance of that annoying foggy lens.
1) At first, we found that if you fold a Kleenex into a small strip, put it on the bridge of your nose and put the mask on over that, when wearing your glasses, the Kleenex will act as a filter for the hot air that you breathe out and will significantly reduce the fogging.
2) Our latest and most effective technique is to use medical grade tape. Our favorite brand is SpiderTech. With this, similar to the Kleenex, fold it into a strip (sticky side out) and tape it on the top of your mask. When you put on your mask, press down on the tape to where it’s attached to your skin. The reason we advise medical grade tape is so that way it won’t irritate the skin it’s exposed to. The secret is in the seal. When it’s taped and sealed properly, the hot air is unable to go upward toward the lens.
3) If you are unable or do not have access to these two techniques, we recommend getting a mask with a wire at the top.
We hope these tips are helpful!
