How to Take Proper Care of Your Contact Lenses for Healthy Eyes

Contact Lens Care Tips for Healthy Eyes

Proper contact lens care is essential for maintaining eye health and preventing infections, or irritations such as red eye.

Here are a few of our recommended guidelines to help you regularly care for your contacts, both safely and effectively.

Handwashing

Always remember to thoroughly wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds before touching your contact lenses.

Pay special attention to your fingertips and between your fingers, as these areas will directly touch your contact lenses during insertion.

Dry your hands completely with a lint-free towel to avoid transferring any water or particles and contaminants to your contact lenses.

Daily Routine

  1. Clean your lenses daily with fresh solution – never reuse old solution
  2. Replace your contact lens case every few months
  3. Follow the replacement schedule for your specific type of lenses
  4. Remove your lenses before sleeping unless they're specifically approved for overnight wear
  5. Take notice of any discomfort, red eye, or other vision related issues that may be caused by your contact lenses

Red Eye & Irritations

If you experience redness, irritation, pain, light sensitivity, or any unusual sensation or discomfort of the eyes, remove your contact lenses immediately.

These symptoms could indicate an eye infection. While some minor irritation might resolve on its own, persistent symptoms lasting more than 24 hours require immediate and professional attention.

Never wear contacts when your eyes are red or irritated, as this can worsen the condition and potentially lead to serious complications.

Always remember, proper contact lens care isn't just about comfort – it's about protecting your eye health for the long term!
