Interview: Nicole Baguyo

Where were you born and raised?

I was born and raised in Manila, Philippines. I moved to Kauai in 2015.  

How has the transition from the Philippines to Kauai been for you?

During the first year, it was tough for me since I left somewhere I was familiar with. But Kauai is such an amazing place to live.

What high school did you graduate from and what was your favorite memory there?

I graduated from Kauai High School in 2020. I was a cheerleader during my junior year which gave me the chance to do something exciting and out of my comfort zone. 

You are currently going to KCC to finish your liberal arts prior to joining the Medical Assisting Program. What made you interested in the medical field?

Since I was young, I always thought about being in a business workplace. However, when I reached high school I got interested in the medical field. My curiosity led me to take the health pathway and I learned tons of knowledge from these classes. Now, I’m planning to finish my liberal arts and continue at a university in the future. Helping other people is one of the things I love to do most.

You and your family members have been long-time patients of Punzal Vision. Now that you are an employee, what has been your favorite thing about working here?

When I was just a patient, I loved how cheerful, fun, and amazing all of the employees were. Now that I’m a part of this awesome team, my favorite thing is how helpful and kind they are.

What's your favorite thing to do when you're not working or in school?

Sleep! I also like going to the beach with my family and friends.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?

I would like to go to Japan. I want to try their delicious food and explore their culture.

What's something you hope to accomplish by the end of 2021?

Something I would like to accomplish is to be physically fit so I’m not dying during the next Ultimate Hawaiian Trail Run.

What are the top three things that you feel would best describe you?

The three things that best describe myself are organized, outgoing, and adventurous. P.S. I’m fun to be around!
