Our whole team participated in this year’s Kaua’i Half Marathon!
With months of training, team runs, and preparation for the event under our belt we finally made it here! We ran the Koloa Plantation Day 5k at the end of July as a warm up, which you can read about on the blog – but this was the real deal!
As anticipation built for the event, we all had to encourage each other to prepare for this test of endurance. For some of us this was our first time running a race like this, and for others, marathons are part of our lives each year.
Regardless of our past experiences, we all came together as a team and helped each other to train both physically and mentally to get ready for this year’s Half Marathon on Kaua’i.
On Thursday we were interviewed by Bill Buley of the Garden Island newspaper, who published a fantastic piece on Dr. Punzal and his dedication to fitness, our team at Punzal Vision, and the tradition of the Kaua’i Marathon.
Please take a moment to read the article here: Joel Punzal runs and pays for his entire staff to participate in the Kauai half marathon
On Friday, we all went to the Grand Hyatt for the Kaua’i Marathon Expo to pick up our race packets and see all of the different vendors that were participating in the event. We were also photographed as a team in preparation for the the Garden Island Newspaper article!
On Saturday, Dr. Punzal was kind enough to invite us to his room at Koloa Landing where he cooked dinner for everyone in preparation for race day. We had pasta, & lots of it!
We woke up early on Sunday morning, ran 13.1 miles, and finished the half marathon strong! Everyone is happy with their time and experience at the race. We even had someone holding a “Go Punzal Vision” sign on Omao road!
Thank you to all of our Punzal Vision supporters, the Kaua’i Marathon for putting on another great event for us to participate in, and Dr. Punzal for being the leader and inspiration that he is to all of us!
We hope to SEE you all there next year!
