As a team, we had the opportunity to travel to the neighbor island O’ahu. We spent a total of two full days and one night, and within that short time we managed to accomplish a lot!
It was Army weekend for Dr. Punzal, so luckily we were able to fit in a few stops before he reported for duty.
Straight from the airport, (besides stopping for some Dunkin’ Donuts) our first destination was Optical Suppliers. Optical Suppliers is where the magic happens for our lenses here at Punzal Vision. After ordering a new frame and lenses from Punzal Vision, that order gets sent directly over to O’ahu where Optical Suppliers is located. During our time spent at the Optical Suppliers lab, we were able to meet the entire staff of production as well as receive a grand tour of the entire lab space. We also got a chance to get a closer look at the process of the lens production line from start to finish. In office, we offer a variety of premier Crizal Anti-Reflective codings which include Saphire 360, Avance, and Prevencia. One interesting highlight of the Optical Suppliers tour was learning about and seeing how the anti-reflective coding is applied onto the lenses.
The next stop on the list was Aloha Laser Vision. Punzal Vision works closely with Aloha Laser Vision by the referral of patients (by Dr. Punzal) for refractive surgery (Lasik/PRK) and cataract surgery, as well as pre-operative and post-operative care. Following a warm welcoming from the staff at Aloha Laser Vision, we had the honor of Dr. Mau giving us a complete tour of their beautiful office, both clinical and administrative.
We specifically picked this particular weekend to travel to O’ahu because it was the dates of the National Contact Lens Examination (NCLE) and the Certified Paraoptometric Examination (CPO). On Friday February 9th, 2018, Pua our practice manager completed the NCLE and is still awaiting results. On Saturday February 10th, 2018, Lehua, Tianne, and Amanda (ophthalmic assistants), and Brity (chief finance officer) completed the CPO examination and all PASSED! We are happy and proud to say that this business trip was a success and went better than expected. We are looking forward to more business trips to take together as a team in the future!
