#2020PunzalVisionChristmasParty was a fun filled day full of surprises creating memories that will last a lifetime!
About a month ago, we were told to keep a “holding period” from December 10th 12:00am, to December 12th 12:00am.
Meaning, we had to be ready and available during those times. We had no idea exactly when our party would start, or where it was going to be, but the only hint we received was a list of outfits to pack. That list included: two sets of athletic attire, swimwear, an army outfit, dinner outfit, pajamas, our ID, mask, and water bottle. You can imagine, with this list, we had a thousand different ideas of what our party could be.
Thursday morning came and we had our BLS training, we continued to do work until about 1:30pm, and then we were told that we could go home. Pretty much everyone in our office was confused, as we thought it was going to START that Thursday morning after training. This definitely took a turn and the level of suspense raised.
Sure enough, Friday morning at 4:00am, we received a text from Brity instructing to meet at the office in 1 hour.
Thank goodness we had our phone ringtone on loud because we were all fast asleep that early in the morning. But the new question was, what to wear? We had no idea whether to come in our pajamas, military outfit, or workout outfit. Each employee came in what they thought was the correct attire for the morning- turns out, it had to be army!
As Brity drove us around Lihue, attempting to throw us off even further, we finally arrived at our first destination, Kipu Ranch Adventures!
For most of us, this was our first time doing this tour and we had a BLAST! We all partnered up and drove through the backroads of Kipu.
Everyone obtained a new appreciation for the beauty of Kaua’i. The tour was about two hours long, and we loved our guide. We then headed over to Nawiliwili Pavillion where we had lunch to refuel ourselves for what was next (which we still had no idea of what that was going to be).
Some of us guessed tubing, ziplining, or horseback riding, but Karl guessed Paintball and he was right! We arrived at our next destination, Paintball Kauai in Puhi. Like Kipu Ranch Adventures, none of us has had played a game of Paintball before.
We split up into teams. Team 1: Pua, Tianne, Lehua, Casey, and Kahe. Team 2: Dr. Punzal, Brity, Karl, and Brittney. We played about 7 rounds and it was so much fun! The best part of paintball was toward the end when Dr. Punzal and Lehua played one on one. From there, we got the question, “Okay, where next?”
We took a turn and ended up at Dr. Punzal and Brity’s property that they have had for the past few years. On their property, two huge white tents were set up for Glamping (glamorous camping). In one tent we each had individual cots with a sleeping bag, pillow, and mosquito net. In the other was a set of personalized Yeti’s with our names engraved on them, a separate living room area, and dining room area.
Outside of the tents were our own chairs set up around a campfire. We even had our own portable shower and separate men / women bathrooms.
We later found out that the entire days meals were catered by Mark’s Place. The entire night consisted of laughs, story telling, good food, drinks, and even better company. 75% of this years Christmas Party funds have gone to support our local economy
Mahalo to Dr. Punzal and Brity- we know that every year, months are spent planning our Christmas Parties and we are beyond grateful each and every year.
Cheers to another successful year at Punzal Vision- providing eye care to our community.
We are excited to see what 2021 has in store for us.
